Don't get overcharged
There's an official rate for most things. Here's what's fair for autos, taxis and water tankers — and how to push back when someone charges more.
🛺 Auto fare calculator
Estimate the fair, meter-based auto fare so you know before you ride.
5 km
km exact
Fair fare (approx.)
₹75
₹30 for first 2 km + ₹15/km after
Meters are mandatory. Refusing to ply by meter / demanding extra is an offence — note the vehicle number.
🚕 City taxis & app cabs
- •Govt has notified city-taxi fare slabs; app cabs (Ola/Uber/Namma Yatri) show fares upfront.
- •Namma Yatri is a zero-commission auto/cab app backed by driver unions — often fairer pricing.
- •Airport: Vayu Vajra (BMTC) AC buses are the cheapest reliable option.
🚰 Water tanker — notified rate caps (BWSSB)
