Hubs, without the hassle
The real questions at Bengaluru's big transit hubs — how to get a fair taxi, the cheapest bus, where to park, and how to dodge the touts.
BLR Airport (Kempegowda Intl)
Terminals T1 & T2 · ~40 km north of the city
Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) is ~40 km from central Bengaluru — budget 1–2 hours by road. It has two terminals: T1 (older) and T2 (the new 'Garden Terminal'). Getting the terminal right, and using the official taxi/bus options, saves the most hassle.
Majestic (Kempegowda Hub)
KSRTC/BMTC bus stand · KSR railway · Metro interchange
Majestic is the city's central transit hub: the Kempegowda Bus Station (BMTC city + KSRTC intercity), the KSR Bengaluru City Junction railway station right across the road, and the underground Nadaprabhu Kempegowda metro interchange (Purple + Green lines) below.
Namma Metro
Purple · Green · Yellow lines · fares ₹10–₹90
Namma Metro is the fastest way to beat Bengaluru traffic. Three lines are operational — Purple (east–west), Green (north–south) and the new Yellow line to Electronic City. Fares are distance-based and tickets come as tokens, QR or smart card.
Bengaluru Railway Stations
KSR (SBC) · Yeshwantpur (YPR) · SMVT Baiyappanahalli
Bengaluru has several major railway stations — and your train may not leave from the obvious one. KSR Bengaluru City (Majestic) is the main station, but many long-distance trains start from Yeshwantpur or the newer SMVT terminal. Check your ticket's boarding station carefully.
