🧭 Getting Around

Namma Metro

Purple · Green · Yellow lines · fares ₹10–₹90

Namma Metro is the fastest way to beat Bengaluru traffic. Three lines are operational — Purple (east–west), Green (north–south) and the new Yellow line to Electronic City. Fares are distance-based and tickets come as tokens, QR or smart card.

🚇 Lines & interchanges

Which lines run, and where do they meet?

Purple Line (Whitefield/Kadugodi ↔ Challaghatta) runs east–west; Green Line (Madavara ↔ Silk Institute) runs north–south; Yellow Line (RV Road ↔ Bommasandra) opened in Aug 2025 and serves the Electronic City corridor. Key interchanges: Majestic (Purple ⇄ Green) and RV Road (Green ⇄ Yellow).

Does it reach the airport / tech parks?

Whitefield (ITPL) and Electronic City are now on the network (Purple and Yellow lines). The airport line (Blue) is under construction — phased from 2026.

🎟️ Fares & tickets

How much does it cost?

Fares are distance-based, roughly ₹10 to ₹90 (revised Feb 2025). A Smart Card gives ~10% off every ride and skips token queues.

What ticket options are there?

Tokens at the counter/vending machine; QR tickets via the Namma Metro app and WhatsApp; Smart Card (a deposit + minimum balance, refundable); and day passes (1/3/5-day) or a monthly pass for regulars.

Fastest way to enter?

Use a Smart Card or QR ticket to skip the token queue, especially at busy stations like Majestic, MG Road and Indiranagar.

First trains around 5:00 AM on weekdays (7:00 AM on Sundays); last trains around 11:00 PM (a bit later from RV Road on the Yellow Line). Frequency is ~5–7 min at peak and ~10–15 min off-peak.
