Foreigner registration & visa services (FRRO / e-FRRO)
Foreigners staying in India beyond 180 days must register with the FRRO within 14 days of arrival. Registration, visa extension, conversion and exit permits are all done online via e-FRRO — usually without an office visit.

Steps

Create an e-FRRO account
Register at indianfrro.gov.in/eservices with your passport and visa details.

Pick the service
Choose Registration, Visa Extension, Visa Conversion, Exit Permit, or others as needed.

Fill & upload
Complete the form and upload passport, visa, photo, address proof and the C-Form.

Pay any fee
Pay the applicable fee online; many registrations are free.
- 5
Get the e-output
The Registration Certificate / Residential Permit (RP) or approval is issued digitally — print and carry it.
💡 Good to know
- Register within 14 days of arrival if your visa/stay exceeds 180 days — penalties apply for delay.
- Your hotel/host must file the C-Form (accommodation report). Keep your RP at all times.
- Overstayed? Apply for an Exit Permit on e-FRRO before leaving.
